19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts
A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging year, winning just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.
This represents the player's initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.
The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted observers to question if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serve.
The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional title, gained dominance to force a decider.
He rescued 4 initial chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, he secured the win with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
